Biographical Information:

Joe, as he was known, was born on 18th July 1920. He was the second eldest of 6 children born to Andrew and Margaret Gillan of Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. He was a member of Hood's Number Four 4" gun crew. He was 20 years old at the time of his loss.
