Biographical Information:

Terry, as he was known, was born on 20th September 1899 to parents Capt. John Hubert Grogan, and of Alice Evelyn Manners Grogan, of Lower Walmer, Kent. He is known to have attended the Haileybury School from 1913 to 1915. His brother Hubert was lost during World War One.

He was affectionately known as "The Chief" to his close friends. He was remembered in the Portsmouth Evening News, May 1941 as someone who was "one of the most resolute and delightful men, who combined extreme versatility with an almost boyish enthusiasm for his job." Terry was also a keen documentor of naval life and affairs. He made numerous films and recordings during his naval career. Some of these recordings featured Hood.

Terry was 41 years old at the time of his loss.
