Biographical Information:

William was born on 3rd August 1921 to parents William and Margaret Humphreys of Collyhurst, Manchester. He was the eldest of three sons. His younger brothers were Samual and John. William joined the service in 1938 and was drafted to Hood sometime in 1940. He served as a member of Hood's Number Four 4" gun crew. He was 19 years old at the time of his loss.
