Biographical Information:

"Johnny", as he was known, was born on 24th July 1920 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada to Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Jones, O.B.E., M.C., and Marie Jones. The family later relocated to Revelstoke, British Columbia. He had two sisters, Margaret and Lucile, both of whom also went on to serve in the armed forces (RAF and RCAF respectively).

Johnny was educated at the Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He graduated in 1940 and was posted to Hood in January 1941. He was 20 years old at the time of his loss.
