Biographical Information:

"Joey" as he was known, was born on 23rd July 1921 in Wolstanton, Staffordshire to Joseph and Florence Knapper. The family later lived in Leeds, Yorkshire. He is believed to have joined Hood at age 17 or 18. Hood was his first and only ship. He was 19 years old at the time of his loss.
