Biographical Information:

James was born on 22nd June 1913 in Whitwood, Yorkshire to Tom and May Ann Langley. The family later lived in Darrington, Yorkshire. He was the husband of Nellie Langley. Together they lived in Pontefract.

James worked as a teacher at Broad Lane Junior Boys School in South Emsall before joining the Navy. He was 27 years old at the time of his loss.
