Biographical Information:

Walter was born on 5th September 1920 to Mrs. A. Latimer, of Thurso, Caithness, Scotland. He was educated at Miller Academy, Thurso. At the time of his loss he was just 20 years old.

Walter Latimer (fourth from left, back row) with his comrades on one of Hood's twin 4" guns. These guns, which had good capability against aircraft as well as surface targets, were fitted to Hood in 1940, replacing the elderly 5.5" guns previously fitted.
