Biographical Information:

Clifford was born on 11th June 1921 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire to Alfred and Matilda Battersby. The family lived in Dronfield Road, Eckington, Derbyshire. Clifford worked as a driver before joining the Navy in 1938. He was posted to Hood in the summer of 1939.

Clifford was 19 years old at the time of his loss.
