Biographical Information:

Alastair was born on 6th June 1923 in Cupar, Fife, Scotland. He is believed to have been an only child. Following the death of his parents (when he was an infant), Alastair was raised by his grandmother, Mrs John MacDonald in Blairgowrie. He attended the Springfield Primary and Bell Baxter High in Fife. He joined the Navy at age 15 (his grandmother relocated to 61 High Street, Perth at this time). He was 17 years old at the time of his loss.
