Biographical Information:

"Fred" as he was known to his family and friends, was born on 8th August 1912 (official date, but the family says he was born in 1913) to parents Charles and Gertrude Nicholson of Alverstoke, Gosport, Hampshire. Fred was not the only family member to serve or be lost in Hood- his brother, Stanley Nicholson sadly died while serving in Hood in 1936.

Fred was the husband of Rosamond Nicholson (who passed away in 2002) of Gosport, Hampshire. He was the father of two children, Richard, age 2 at the time of the sinking, and Gillian, born in October 1941. Fred was 28 years old at the time of his loss.
