Biographical Information:

James was born on 27th March 1912 in Edinburgh, Scotland, the second of three sons born to Hugh and Ann Pae. He attended Canongate School on High Street. Jame is known to have lived and worked in Canada at some point before joining the Navy.

He married his wife Marjorie in Portsmouth on 29 May 1937. Together they had two children, Marjorie and Hugh. He is known to have served in China aboard H.M.S. Bee before joining the crew of Hood. He was 29 years old at the time of his loss.
