Biographical Information:

Edwin was born on 3rd July 1915 in Cheadle, Staffordshire to parents John and Gertrude Plant. He grew up in Oakamoor and attended the Oakamoor County Primary School. As a person he was quiet and reserved but loved the outdoors, walking and swimming.

Edwin joined the Royal Marines in 1935 at age 19. He served as a loader in one of Hood's 15" gun houses. He was lost in action on the morning of 24th May 1941. He was 25 years old at the time of his loss.
