Frank Snowden Potts
Frank was born on 18th January 1920, the only son of Albert and Dorothy Potts, of Colwyn Road, West Hartlepool, County Durham. He was educated at West Hartlepool Secondary School where he became head boy. After school, he joined the staff of the Borough’s Treasurer’s Department of West Hartlepool Corporation. He was a keen sportsman and participated in swimming and rowing clubs. He also played rugby for the Secondary School Old Boys (for whose Association he also served as secretary).
Frank volunteered to joing the Navy shortly after the start of the Second World War. He served in the Home Guard whilst waiting to be called to Navy duty. He was 21 years old at the time of his loss.
