Biographical Information:

Thomas was born on 11th September 1922 to James and Susan Smith, of 7 Firth Square, Ford Estate, Sunderland, County Durham. He is known to have had four brothers. He attended Havelock Council School, Sunderland.

Thomas entered the Navy in 1938/1939. He was 18 years old at the time of his loss.
