Biographical Information:

Richard was born on 12th December 1921 in Renfrew, Renfrewshire to Harold and Kate Thorpe. The family later lived in South Almond Crescent, Teams, Gateshead, County Durham. Before joining the Navy he worked at Atlas Concrete Works, Dunston. He was 19 years old at the time of his loss.
