H.M.S. Crew List

It is estimated that as many as 18,000 men served aboard the 'Mighty Hood' during the operational portion of her 21 year career. Unfortunately, there is no surviving official single listing of ALL men who served in her. Here you will find our attempt at creating such a listing. We are using the few, fragmentary crew lists known to exist, Navy Lists, various official reports, public records, and most importantly of all, inputs from the families of former crew.

Biographical Information: Charles joined the Navy on 28/08/1939 . He was trained at H.M.S. Pembroke 2 and H.M.S. Victory 2 before joining Hood in April 1940. After leaving Hood he was posted to Pembroke 2 then H.M.S. Liddleslade and Pembroke again.

From July to October 1945 he served at RNAS Twatt, in Orkney. Assignments to Pembroke 2 and H.M.S. Ocean followed. After the wat he served at Pembroke 2 ,(Tiree),Brambles,and H.M.S. Ganges. He qualified for Petty Officer in the early 1950s and left the Navy in March 1953.
