Biographical Information:

Charles was born on 18th October 1915 in Newark, Nottinghamshire, one of 14 children of his parents Jesse and Florence Wright. The family lived in Stuart Street and later lived in Grantham, Lincolnshire.

Charles was educated at St. Anne's and th Boys Central School until age 14. He then worked at Mowbray's Brewery before joining the Royal Navy. He was trainined at H.M.S. Ganges and saw service in H.M.S.s Warspite, Resolution and at the Wireless Station at Gibraltar before joining Hood

He was 25 years old at the time of his loss.
