-H.M.S. Hood Crew Information-
H.M.S. Crew List

It is estimated that as many as 18,000 men served aboard the 'Mighty Hood' during the operational portion of her 21 year career. Unfortunately, there is no surviving official single listing of ALL men who served in her. Here you will find our attempt at creating such a listing. We are using the few, fragmentary crew lists known to exist, Navy Lists, various official reports, public records, and most importantly of all, inputs from the families of former crew.

Arthur was very proud of that fact that he had also served on HMS Prince of Wales. He was actually on her when she went down. He used to tell relatives that he was shipwrecked and that they had to make their own spoon and fork by carving them out of pieces of wood. He kept these and had them for many years in one of his 'boxes'.It is thought that he served 33 years in the Royal Navy. After leaving the Navy, he worked for British Sidac in St.Helens as an Electrician and then retired in 1963/64.Arthur and his wife formally adopted her sister's son Harold in 1930, bringing him up as their own child. They then had their own son, Arthur junior in 1931.

Arthur died in 1973.
