H.M.S. Crew List

It is estimated that as many as 18,000 men served aboard the 'Mighty Hood' during the operational portion of her 21 year career. Unfortunately, there is no surviving official single listing of ALL men who served in her. Here you will find our attempt at creating such a listing. We are using the few, fragmentary crew lists known to exist, Navy Lists, various official reports, public records, and most importantly of all, inputs from the families of former crew.

Archibald Robert Stentiford

Biographical Information: Archibald joined the Royal Navy on 7 June 1926 for 12 years. On completion of this he enrolled in the Royal Fleet Reserve at Devonport on 7 June 1938 . He was remobilised on 28 September 1938 and served through the war, eventually being discharged back to the Royal Fleet Reserve on 7 June 1948. He reached the rank of Stoker Petty Officer on 16 September 1942 whilst serving at HMS Drake, Devonport.
