H.M.S. Crew List

It is estimated that as many as 18,000 men served aboard the 'Mighty Hood' during the operational portion of her 21 year career. Unfortunately, there is no surviving official single listing of ALL men who served in her. Here you will find our attempt at creating such a listing. We are using the few, fragmentary crew lists known to exist, Navy Lists, various official reports, public records, and most importantly of all, inputs from the families of former crew.

Biographical Information: Born & raised in Hebburn-on-Tyne. He joined H.M.S. Ganges in January 1927 and served until 1952. He served aboard Hood twice during his career- first from 31 Aug 1933 to 04 May 1938 and again from 08 Sept 1936 to 26 Dec 1939. He was awarded DSM, LSGC, 39-45 Star, Atlantic Star + Arctic Convoy Star, Africa Star & Clasp, Burma Star, Pacific Clasp, Italy Star, War Medal. He passed away in 1971. Served aboard Hood twice.
