H.M.S. Crew List

It is estimated that as many as 18,000 men served aboard the 'Mighty Hood' during the operational portion of her 21 year career. Unfortunately, there is no surviving official single listing of ALL men who served in her. Here you will find our attempt at creating such a listing. We are using the few, fragmentary crew lists known to exist, Navy Lists, various official reports, public records, and most importantly of all, inputs from the families of former crew.

Biographical Information: Trained at Dartmouth in 1936. Posted to Hood up until early May 1941. He then moved into submarinesThis parallels my father's career,as he was First Lieutenant on HMS Torbay,and after the war commanded various submarines. His submarine service is as follows: Torbay (3rd Hand and IL), Tactician (IL), Seraph (CO), Selene (CO), Tactician (CO) and Talent (CO).He was awarded the DSO and retired as a Lt-Commander 1956. He passed away in January 2011.
