H.M.S. Crew List

It is estimated that as many as 18,000 men served aboard the 'Mighty Hood' during the operational portion of her 21 year career. Unfortunately, there is no surviving official single listing of ALL men who served in her. Here you will find our attempt at creating such a listing. We are using the few, fragmentary crew lists known to exist, Navy Lists, various official reports, public records, and most importantly of all, inputs from the families of former crew.

Biographical Information: Born 1899 in parish of Stinsford. Dorchester. Dorset.Joined the Navy in 1916 on the 18th September as Boy.Finished his navel career on 6th October 1945 as a PO/Stoker.Married Elizabeth Frith also from Dorchester, who was engaged to a serving sailor who died with the sinking of the Hood). They were married on Boxing Day 1941 at the Llandaff Cathedral in Cardiff.

After the war Reginald was employed as boilerman in a printing factory in Frome, Somerset. He remained in Frome until his death in the 1970s.
