Albert E. Burton
Rank: Ordinary Seaman
Biographical Information: Albert Burton's service in HMS Hood came to light when the Association received a copy of his station card, bearing his surname and the name 'Hood'. That mentions that his duty onboard was in operating one of the ship's 5.5 inch guns, her secondary armament. Nothing further is known about his time onboard, but a newspaper account dating from around 1944 tells that he had joined the Royal Navy in 1933 and that later, as a Petty Officer, he joined the Royal Naval Commando and was Mentioned in Despatches (MiD) for gallant conduct during the Allied invasion of Sicily.
