Biographical Information:

Chissie, as he was known to his friends, was born 12th May 1918 in Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales to Charles and Harriet Amery. Sadly, his mother was widowed in the 1930s. Chissie took a job at age 14 and helped her to look after his 6 siblings. He entered the Royal Navy sometime after the outbreak of war and was assigned to Hood. He was 23 at the time of his loss.
