In Remembrance of
David Morgan Evans
David was a rugby player of high calibre. His rugby career began in the rugby union code. He joined Neath in 1933/34 and quickly established himself as a hard-working, mobile prop forward in the best traditions of the club as Neath stormed to the first of two successive Welsh championships in which 'D.M.' was a key man.
David was a regular choice for the Welsh All Blacks and earned a Welsh trial in just his second season in 1934. He was in the Neath-Aberavon pack which gave New Zealand a torrid time (3-13) in 1935 but he then changed rugby codes, joining Huddersfield Rugby League Club over Christmas 1935. He is pictured in their colours. David played rugby league for Wales Rugby League in 1936/37 in three wins against England, France and a Rugby League XIII.
David was married. He and his wife had one child, a daughter. He never saw his daughter as she was born on the very day he died.
David was 30 years old at the time of his loss.
