It is estimated that as many as 9,000 men served aboard the "Mighty Hood" during the operational portion of her 21 year career. Unfortunately, there is no surviving official single listing of ALL men who served in her. Here you will find our attempt at creating such a listing. We are using the few, fragmentary crew lists known to exist, Navy Lists, various official reports, public records, and most importantly of all, inputs from the families of former crew.

Biographical Information: Leonard joined the Royal Navy in November 1928. Ships he served in included:
  • H.M.S. Argus September 1929 to May 1930
  • H.M.S. Hood 8th May 1931 to 30th August 1933
  • H.M.S. London 1st April 1934 to 26th January 1937
  • H.M.S. Wren 25th April 1938 to 19th June 1939
  • H.M.S. Ramillies 5th August 1939 to 5th April 1943
  • H.M.S. Portland Bill 3rd January 1945 to 7th January 1947
Between times he was drafted back mainly to barracks at H.M.S. Victory, Portsmouth. Leonard retired from the Royal Navy on retirement 27th March 1952.
