It is estimated that as many as 9,000 men served aboard the "Mighty Hood" during the operational portion of her 21 year career. Unfortunately, there is no surviving official single listing of ALL men who served in her. Here you will find our attempt at creating such a listing. We are using the few, fragmentary crew lists known to exist, Navy Lists, various official reports, public records, and most importantly of all, inputs from the families of former crew.

Biographical Information: Frederick enlisted as a 'boy soldier' around 1925-6. He served on H.M.S. Warspite from 23 July 1931 to 04 May 1933 then had 4 months ashore before joining H.M.S. Hood in August 1933.

He had a couple of months ashore in late 1935 before joining H.M.S. Enterprise on 23 Jan 1936. He served on the Enterprise until April 1938. He then joined the Mobile Naval Base Defence Organisation. He was attached to H.M.S. Odyssey a shore establishment from March to October 1944 and was known to have been at Gold Beach shortly after D-Day.
