It is estimated that as many as 9,000 men served aboard the "Mighty Hood" during the operational portion of her 21 year career. Unfortunately, there is no surviving official single listing of ALL men who served in her. Here you will find our attempt at creating such a listing. We are using the few, fragmentary crew lists known to exist, Navy Lists, various official reports, public records, and most importantly of all, inputs from the families of former crew.

Biographical Information: Frank Aisladie's service in Hood came to the knowledge of the Hood Association through having been given sight of his "ditty box" manuscript diary, retained by his family. This contained a reference to the Hood as part of a log of ship's movements which conformed with the known Hood programme of the time. Frank was drafted from Hood after she entered refit in January 1939. He served in the RN from 1938 to around 1948, when he was medically discharged.
