Background
This pewter miniature was created specifically for use in naval war gaming. It is virtually identical to C&C's larger 1/2400 scale Hood miniature, and as such, is a decent representation of Hood at the time of her loss in May 1941. An image of the miniature (displayed roughly 2.5 times larger than its actual size) can be seen to the right.
Observations
- The miniature is approximately 2" / 5.1cm in length.
- The hull is correct in shape and shear. It has no armour belt detailing, main mast, boats or planked decks. In all fairness to C&C, it would be next to impossible to accurately portray these on a miniature of such small size.
- The main guns are part of the hull, as are the various anti-aircraft pieces.
- The superstructure and funnels are fairly accurate in size and appearance.
Summary
A very good miniature which is well-suited for war gaming purposes.
