H.M.S. Hood Today - Scale Models & Miniatures of Hood
Dave Weldon's Build of the 1/350 Scale White Ensign Models Hood
Updated 12-Oct-2021

The model shown here was built by Mr Dave Weldon of the H.M.S. Hood Association. Dave is a true expert on the subject, having spent over 50 years researching Hood. He built this highly-modified and super-detailed rendition of Hood as she appeared at the time of her loss to Bismarck on 24 May 1941. We are most indebted to Dave for sending these photos in.

We should note that since the time this model was created, colour film of Hood has been found. As a result, some features on this model are not painted in the proper shade: These are the side booms and amidships derricks and the main gun blast bags. The booms were not bare wood as shown here, but were actually painted AP507B. The blast bags were not white as depicted on this model, but were actually AP507B. Other than that, Dave did a remarkable job in getting all the other details exactly correct. It just goes to show how excellent his initial paint research was!
