Photos & Graphics of H.M.S. Hood
The Burgess Photo Collection
Updated 12-Apr-2022

These images were sent-in by Dave Burgess. They were collected by his grandfather, Warrant Ordnance Officer Henry Burgess during his service in Hood. Sadly, Henry was later lost in the sinking of Hood on 24 May 1941. Based on the appearance of the ship, the bulk of these postcards were likely created in 1931, just after Hood's 1929-1931 refit. Despite the notable changes in the ship since the photos were taken, they were still sold in the NAAFI Canteen on board up to the day she sank.
