This document is a modern transcription of a small portion of Confidential Admiralty Fleet Order 534 from the year 1940. It concerns the allocation of trolleys used for transporting heavy ordnance. C.A.F.O. 534.–Trolleys, Pattern 46, with Chocks for Transport of Bombs

(N.S. 11101/39.–15.2.1940)

Trolleys, Pattern 46, modified in accordance with A.F.O. Diagram 2/40 have been adopted for the transport of 250-lb. S.A.P. and 100-lb. A.S. bombs in catapult ships and supply will be made on the basis of one trolley for each horizontal shift necessary.

2. Arrangements have been made for the purchase of (a) 42 trolleys, Pattern 46, complete with bomb chocks, and (b) 53 sets of bomb chocks for the modification of existing trolleys, Pattern 46, for delivery as follows: —

4. The modified trolleys (without the chocks) are for use also in connection with other transport requirements such as warheads, ammunition, etc., and the quantities shown in paragraph 3 above for ships of new construction are to be regarded as the established allowance in lieu of present Pattern 46.

5. B.R.359—Establishment of Naval Stores for Electrical and Torpedo Purposes—will be amended.
