C.A.F.O. 494. – Guns – B.L., 6-in., Mark XXIII ; Q.F., 4.5-in., Mark III, and Q.F., 4-in., Mark XVI – Endorsement of Muzzle Velocities on Memoranda of Inspection

As a result of investigations, it has been found that the original muzzle velocities endorsed on memoranda of inspection require amendment in some cases.

     2.  The present situation of and the correct muzzle velocities of the guns and barrels concerned are shown in the following lists, and, when necessary, memoranda of inspection should be amended accordingly.

     3.  As regards Q.F., 4.5-in., and Q.F., 4-in., Mark XVI guns, the “B” registered number refers to the number of the loose barrel.

     4.  Ships and Naval armament supply depôts should check the registered numbers of guns and loose barrels on charge with these lists.
