The following photographs were sent in to the site by Hood veteran Melville Percival. He served in Hood from roughly 1938 to 1939. Some of these photos actually pre-date his time in Hood, and were likely bought from the ship's bookstall or acquired from shipmates. Others date specifically from his time aboard. Nearly all are of Hood's service in the Mediterranean.

Above- Hood leaving Portsmouth following her 1936 refit. She is enroute to Gibraltar for a 2+ year stint with the Mediterranean Fleet.

Above- One of Hood's 4" single barrel anti-aircraft guns. Note the splinter matting alongside the railing.

Above- Hood's focsle in late 1936 or early 1937. This must have been taken shortly after her arrival in Gibraltar as evidenced by the lack of recognition stripes on "B" turret.

Above and Below- Hood takes on 15" ammunition. In these shots, 15" shells are being hoisted aboard. In the hold of the boat to the left, one can also make out cordite propellant cases.
