Biographical Information:

Roy was born on 30th April 1921 at Hardwicke Road, Hastings, Sussex to Winifred Petch (later Wren). He attended Halton school and later Crowhurst school.

He joined the Navy and first served in H.M.S. Warspite. He then served in H.M.S. Belfast and then in in Norway before joining Hood. He was the husband of Mary Petch, of Hastings. He was 20 years old at the time of his loss.
