Biographical Information:

Leonard, as he was known, was born on 17th September 1897 in Manchester, Lancashire. He was the youngest of seven children (1 girl, 6 boys) born to Joseph and Sarah Ramsbotham. He was born and raised in Blackley, Lancashire where his father was Sexton of St. Peter's Church. Close ties were maintained with his mother's family, the Hughes, of Leighton, Montgomeryshire.

Leonard emigrated to Canada in the late 1920's. He lived in Vancouver for 3 years. He returned to England because his mother was ill. She died in 1932. He never married.

Leonard was 43 years old at the time of his loss.
