William was born on 10th May 1910 in Portsmouth, Hampshire to William and Jessie Shiers. He was the husband of Doris Shiers, of Fratton, Portsmouth. He was serving as a Supply Petty Officer (Temporary) and was 31 years old at the time of his loss.
