Biographical Information:

Leslie was born on 11th September 1919 to Frank and Sarah Shipp, of Portsmouth, Hampshire. He was the third of six children. His father was a licensed victualler in Portsmouth. Leslie and at least three of his siblings are known to have served during the Second World War- Leslie was in the Navy, his younger sister Doris was a member of the ATS and his younger brothers Ronald and Cyril served in the Army.

Leslie was 21 years old at the time of his loss.
