Biographical Information:

George was born on 12th February 1916, the second of ten children born to Robert and Eliza Fotheringham, of Thorne, Doncaster, Yorkshire. He joined the Marines in 1934 at age 18. Of the 7 years he served, the last 5 were in Hood. He was 25 years old at the time of his loss.
